Victor Hugo would turn in his grave watching Tres Miserables, a modern interpretation of his work, and the musical currently showing at MICF. But then he would turn over again, trying in vain to stifle the fits of laughter rising within his tomb. TM succeeds with its playful mockery of the French language, creative use of minimal space and props, and because it's lacquered with references to pop culture and current affairs, including a clergy in disrepute, debate around the East-West Link, and the evil “Antonio” Abbott.
