Album Review: Coldrain - The Revelation

Coldrain’s third album will not warm you up this winter.

More Coldrain More Coldrain

Japanese five-piece coldrain’s third album will not warm you up this winter. The Revelation is a chilling mixture of shredding power-chords and throat-wrenching screams that occasionally instils genuine fear. The title track has an anthemic, if pessimistic, chorus; unfortunately one of the only moments of sing-along potential. This is clearly not a concern for a band mostly interested in providing serious energy. And they do. When they’re not trying as hard to do this, such as in the ballad Next To You, they’re easily at their most interesting. The rest gets lost in a muddy mess.
