Album Review: Chrissie Hynde - Stockholm

There are pleasing head-nodders like Like In The Movies which court both Beatles and Motown sensibilities but overall Stockholm is delightful, if un-wowing.

More Chrissie Hynde More Chrissie Hynde

Incredulously, Stockholm is the first solo album from the great Pretender, but it arrives with warmth courtesy of producer Bjorn Yttling and smirks from mates Neil Young and John McEnroe. Yes, that's the tennis player's twanging on A Plan Too Far. Hynde still armed with the voice of an angel with a light cold, Stockholm dispenses with any retroactive punk-ish obligations and settles into a cosy three-minute pop song bedsit. There are pleasing head-nodders like Like In The Movies which court both Beatles and Motown sensibilities but overall Stockholm is delightful, if un-wowing.
