Album Review: Jeff Lang - I Live In My Head A Lot These Days

Lang's maintained a reliable reputation as one of Australia's most interesting blues guitarists, his collabs with Bob Brozman and Chris Whitley standing out. But Lang's solo work is just as emotively effective. A master of string and slide, Lang's taken an experimental bent here, with foley sounds from chains and 40-gallon drums adding rustic charm. But it's when he combines his virtuosity with his storytelling ability that he shines: People Will Break Your Heart, I Want To Run But My Legs Won't Stand and Standing On The Shore are particularly sublime.
