Album Review: L-Fresh The Lion - One

9 May 2014 | 9:25 am | James d'Apice

Enjoy the moments his confidence has given us.

More L-FRESH The LION More L-FRESH The LION

One begins with a KRS-One freestyle. Opening with a clumsy, ugly shout-out from a man decades past his use-by date is a terrible idea, a failure of ambition. Instead of opening his own album himself, L-FRESH The LION has wheeled out a worn-out ex-rapper to give him a reference. Our host's insecurity is misplaced. The album's title track deserves the warm reception it's received. Victory, a searing mini-monster, is the sharpest thing here. Our host's flow is on point, spitting poison darts as the beat meanders menacingly. Ignore L-FRESH's insecurity. Enjoy the moments his confidence has given us.
