Album Review: Various - The Amazing Spiderman 2 Original Soundtrack

This is a release that can’t decide which age group its aimed at, ultimately failing to connect with anyone.

Teen movie soundtracks are notoriously bad; The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is packed full of cinematic movements that hold more power and prowess than the titular character. There's this ominous vibe to the score, largely due to Hans Zimmer's impressive orchestral arrangements. But for all their heroic overtures, the soundtrack is mired by horrible modern trappings; dubstep bass drops and breakdowns leave a sour aftertaste, especially with the addition of Disney villain-esque lyrics in tracks like My Enemy. This is a release that can't decide which age group its aimed at, ultimately failing to connect with anyone.
