While the album is very one-paced, it’s clear that as a debut record Voss Romme wanted to ensure she found her base before getting too experimental.
Reflective aural pools of crisp, elongated piano notes open May, Danish artist Broken Twin (real name Majke Voss Romme)'s debut album. When Voss Romme's vocals slide over the top throughout the record, alongside subtle strings, acoustic guitars and flickers of embellishment, it's as though nothing else matters except the present. There's an echo in May that recalls Olafur Arnalds or Daughter (the latter of whom Broken Twin recently toured with) and, while the album is very one-paced, it's clear that as a debut record Voss Romme wanted to ensure she found her base before getting too experimental.
