Vintage rock, paying homage to what came before, blatant rip-offs of bands from decades past… None of this is new, but doing it well is pretty rare, which is what makes Endless a more than pleasant surprise. The music of Mount Salem sounds like they've dragged their way out the primordial sludge of '70s metal and found no reason to evolve any further. Combine that with the haunting, arse-kicking, all-attitude vocals of Emily Kopplin and Endless is an album that stays with you long after its last notes are grinded, writhing and convulsing back into the dirt.
