Album Review: CEO - Wonderland

"It’s opaque, thematically, but it’s easy to project onto such broad interesting canvases as these."

Eric Berglund, aka CEO, one half of Sweden's Tough Alliance label (jj, Memory Tapes, Air France) makes music with bright light shining through the cracks. His songs have white-hot cores, contained by intricate and vibrant shells of synth piano, strange samples of warped vocal stabs and feather-light melodies that wouldn't be out of place on a '70s glam rock LP. Wonderland, his second album, is full of the same energy, but it's less focused than his previous work – he's high on his own supply. It's opaque, thematically, but it's easy to project onto such broad interesting canvases as these.
