3.5 stars

This unique four-piece deserve credit for their creativity and unapologetic brutality. Swaggering frontwoman Nikkita Rast's breathy, unaccompanied rapping on Prologue is cringeworthy and its political theme feels contrived. However, once the drum beat and keys enter, it's suddenly transformed into an understated, catchy hip hop beat. Gritty, multi-layered single POWER exudes attitude and energy. It consists of grinding distortion and militant, marching drums in the vein of RATM. Rast alternates between rapping and singing with ease throughout the EP, and when the girls occasionally sing in unison, She Rex's fierce potential is really put on display.
