Power 50 - #40: Maria Amato

After CEO Dan Nevin relocated to the UK, Amato - who already had more than ten years’ experience with AIR at the time - was appointed General Manager at Australian Independent Record Labels Association (AIR) in July, 2016.

Amato was a board member of Music Victoria from 2012 to 2014 and previously held the role of Melbourne International Film Festival’s CEO/CFO from 2010 to 2014. She brings 25 years experience in the not-for-profit, entertainment and music sectors where she has specialised in finance and business management.

Last June, together with Millie Millgate (Sounds Australia) and a selection of independent labels from Australia, Amato headed over to New York indie week.

Also in 2017, the Amato-led 11th AIR Awards were held at the Queen’s Theatre in Adelaide and incorporated a brand new two-day music industry conference at Tandanya National Aboriginal Cultural Institute thanks to support from the South Australian Government.
