#15: Niko Nordstrom & Mardi Caught, Warner Music Australia, President/Marketing Consultant
Since leaving Sony Music Entertainment in 2010 to become General Manager of Atlantic, Mardi Caught has more than earned her reputation as a skilled marketer, publicist and digital strategist with a deep understanding of label work and an even deeper passion the music industry. In her tenure at Warner Music Australia she’s been responsible for looking after major artists such as Illy, Thelma Plum, and Safia, and after three years as WMA’s General Manager Frontline Marketing many in the industry were tipping her to take the top job as WMA President.
In December Caught instead stepped into a Marketing Consultant position where she’ll doubtlessly continue to substantially shape WMA and the broader Australian music industry. Niko Nordstrom came across from Warner Music Finland to head the company, stating that his “time at Warner Music Finland was hugely rewarding, and to be able to open a new chapter in my career half way around the world in another country with a fantastic, vibrant music scene is a rare and exciting opportunity”.
In early 2018 Nordstrom has already picked up a serious laurel, a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Emma Gaala, where Warner Music Finland has received Record Company of the Year for eight straight years. As Managing Directer for WMF from 2007 to 2017, Nordstrom was credited with doubling Warner Music’s Finnish market share, taking it from 15.1 percent to 30.6 percent, as well as signing and developing a long list of the country’s breakout artists. Big things to come here in Oz for this team.
