Melbourne Guitar Show Focus: Jamie Pye

Name: Jamie Pye

What was the best piece of advice you were given when you first started learning guitar? Some of the best advice I have heard was from Daniel Champagne. "Don't let anyone else tell you how to play your instrument, because then you'll probably just end up sounding like everyone else."

What's your fave guitar/amp/pedal set up? Fender Telecaster/Stratocaster, JHS drives and Strymon reverbs and delays all running into either a Fender Twin Reverb or Hot Rod Deluxe III. As for acoustic, a Cole Clark dreadnaught straight into a D.I sounds incredible!

If you could jam with one person, who would it be and why? There is so many amazing artists in the world, however spending some time with George Benson would be something special. I think he presents such a unique and sophisticated sound through his guitar playing.

If money wasn't an issue, what guitar would you buy and why? I'd love to find a vintage Gibson 330 or 150 in great condition. There would be so much character and warmth developed with its age. Any vintage Fender Stratocaster would also be on the list.

When and where can we catch you at the Melbourne Guitar Show? 6 Aug, 3.30 - 4.45pm, Cole Clark Presentation with Miles Jackson; 7 Aug, 12.30 - 1.15pm.
