Man Resents Being Dragged To This Fucking Club

"Easily the worst night of my life"

Surry Hills mechanic Trent Powers has admitted he is harbouring "serious resentment" towards best mate Phil Portman after the latter "dragged" him to popular night spot The Chin Up Bar to impress a woman they had met earlier in the evening.

Divulging his sordid tale to SPA Confidential over a tinny, Powers explained that he had expected little more than a quiet evening for dinner with friends when he left his home on Bellevue Street about 6pm last night, before he and Portman separated from the main group to buy cigarettes about 8.30pm.

"I just wanted to buy my darts and go home, watch some Drunk History," Powers opined. "But then, when we were in the line at 7-Eleven, Phil bumped into this sheila he used to know when he was at uni and then the next thing you know, somehow, I got dragged into coming here for 'moral support', which really means 'sit in the smoking area and watch him embarrass himself for the next three hours'.

"That is, of course, after the bouncer got up me on the way in, because my shoes," — he pointed to a pair of well-worn, but still respectable, Dunlop loafers — "are apparently not 'Chin Up standard'. I argued with him for a solid five minutes, and was only allowed entry on the caveat that I never try and come here again. Jesus, it's easily been the worst night of my life."

When SPA Confidential offered that an evening could always be what one makes of it, Powers replied: "I have a missus, so the whole exercise is totally pointless for me."

"And even if I didn't," he continued, "this fucking club plays nothing but music that makes me want to plug my ears with my own eyeballs, and it's absolutely chock-full of people I hate.

"No, I don't know them. But I hate them all the same."
