It's Time To Sort Out That PlayStation Situation

There's no such thing as a fish out of water at the EB Expo.

I’ve been a patriotic PlayStation girl since I was about seven, back when Crash Bandicoot was breaking crates and eating Wumpa fruit and life was much simpler.

But sadly as the years have gone on I’ve found myself playing video games less and less. Something about not having enough time or whatever. Or possibly due to the fact that I’ve had a broken PlayStation 3 for about two and a half years now. I know, I really should do something about that…

So heading along to day one of the EB Games Expo in Sydney this weekend was kind of like being a kid again for myself. And I’m sure the hundreds of other gamers that were there.

Unlike a few other, let’s call them ‘nerd’ conventions I’ve experienced, EB didn’t make me feel like a fish out of water just because I might not be as hardcore as most of the people there. No judgement for not dressing up as Lara Croft (she’s still a thing?) or for my lack of FIFA skills or even for screaming like the girl I am in The Evil Within maze. That shit was pretty scary – and if you don’t believe me, the game itself was created by the team behind the iconic Resident Evil series and that’s the stuff virtual nightmares are made of. #Wuss.

No kiddin' that shit's evil.

Even though I might be slightly out of current video game touch, it appears not a lot has changed in terms of what gets gamers frothing over. The lines to play the new WWE and NBA titles (WWE2K15 and NBA2K15) were consistently long and shit those games look so real. It's amazing how far graphics have come - there's really not a lot separating LeBron James in virtual and human form these days. Call Of Duty, Halo and Assassin’s Creed are also still a really big deal and definitely have some of the most hardcore of hardcore fans out there.

So clearly that is a sword and you are not happy to see me...

TURN DOWN FOR WHAT!

And no matter who you are, where you’re from or what groovin’ skill levels you possess (or not), Just Dance will make you do just that. It’s inevitable.

So yeah, it really is time for me to go get that PlayStation situation sorted out, huh?
