80,000 people are expected to descend on Parramatta Park on 26 January for its annual Australia Day event.

The free, 15-hour-long event will feature performances from Yothu Yindi & The Treaty Project, Steve Kilbey and more in addition to the nation's largest citizenship ceremony, classic cars, a lamb barbeque competition, free activities and workshops, and fireworks.

“The festivities celebrate everything there is to love about Parramatta including its rich history, cultural diversity and local talent. Set in the beautiful grounds of World Heritage-Listed Parramatta Park, it’s the ultimate outdoor destination for Australia Day celebrations offering something for everyone,” Lord Mayor of Parramatta Cr Andrew Wilson said.

Executive Director of Parramatta Park and Western Sydney Parklands Trusts Suellen Fitzgerald said, “With a proud 40,000-year history of Aboriginal occupation, and European heritage that dates back to the earliest years of colonial settlement, Parramatta Park is the perfect place for Sydneysiders to celebrate Australia Day.”

“We’re excited to once again host Australia Day as one of the five free events in this year’s Crescent Summer Series, and invite people from all of Sydney’s many cultures to join us in beautiful Parramatta Park, where history comes alive,” Ms Fitzgerald said.
