It was a big night for music on Australian television last night, with over one million people tuning in for music programs across the evening.

According to TV Tonight, 953,000 viewers tuned in for The Voice's second episode of the season.

It comes after a huge debut on Sunday night, which brought in 1.01 million viewers, the same figure the 2019 season aired to.

This also meant the singing competition beat Channel 10's Masterchef in the time slot for a second night.

It wasn't just The Voice that pulled in big numbers last night, ABC's Australian Story also looked at local entertainers last night, looking at how performers have found ways to keep working throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

The program brought in 656,000 viewers and featured an introduction from comedian and Spicks & Specks host Adam Hills, as well as featuring musician Beccy Cole, actor Lucy Durack, actor and musician Eddie Perfect and more.

Channel 9 continued its music programming throughout the night too, with a special on legendary band Queen and new singer Adam Lambert.

Dubbed The Show Must Go On: The Queen + Adam Lambert Story the program contained rare live and behind the scenes footage, as well as appearances from band members and Bohemian Rhapsody star Rami Malek, Foo Fighters' Taylor Hawkins and more throughout, which brought in 440,000 viewers.

The theme continues tonight with The Voice airing from 7.30pm, while Let’s Go Crazy: The Grammy Salute To Prince - which marks the fourth anniversary of the music legend’s passing and features tributes from Mavis Staples, Foo Fighters, Beck, St Vincent, John Legend and more - will run at 9.00pm.
