Violent Soho Share Previously Unheard Track 'Domestic La La'

Violent Soho have shared a cracking previously unreleased tune, Domestic La La, in the lead-up to the tenth anniversary of their seminal LP Hungry Ghost.

A melancholy guitar line opens the track, and then Domestic La La quickly unravels to showcase headbanging drums and lead vocalist Luke Boerdam stretching into punk rock territory, singing, screaming and screeching his heart out. Check out the animated music video below.

“With the cry of the ailing victor, I never knew you would hang around/ Too damn young to be cursing and bitter, Cassius will bring you down,” Boerdam drawls in the song, which hasn’t been released officially before.

Most fans will be hearing the new number for the first time, but a few lucky punters with a limited double A-side 7” vinyl from 2015 might be feeling pretty chuffed right about now.

“Hungry Ghost is 10! Hell Fuck Yeah!! Ten years ago, when we recorded Hungry Ghost, we had no expectations; we just wanted to record music on our own terms - at home in Brisbane, in a shed with the producer who worked with local punk bands,” the band wrote in a candid statement in September. “We had no idea the record would go on to change our lives.”

They continued, “We did some digging and found some live tracks plus some demos from that period that helped shape the record - we hope everyone enjoys looking back as much as we have. Thanks everyone who’s supported the band and record over the past ten years - we’re continually grateful and humbled by the experience!”
