“There’s nowhere we’d rather be today than in the great city of Kyiv.”

More U2 More U2

It’s been dubbed a ‘surprise performance’ but a bomb shelter in the Ukraine is exactly where you’d expect U2 to pop up right now.

It’s been revealed that Bono and The Edge played a 40-minute set in a Kyiv train station that’s being used as a bomb shelter during the current Russian invasion.

The Irish rockers confirmed via socials that the performance followed an invite from Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky, who encouraged them to perform in Kyiv “as a show of solidarity with the Ukrainian people”.

The band’s post was ended with “Bono and The Edge #StandWithUkraine”.

Bobo and The Edge performed hits such as With Or Without You to a small crowd of fans, including members of the Ukraine armed forces, some of whom joined the duo on vocals during the event.

During the gig, Bono said, “There’s nowhere we’d rather be today than in the great city of Kyiv.”
