Tim Finn collaborates with Queensland Theatre on 'Twelfth Night'.

More Tim Finn More Tim Finn

For Queensland Theatre's upcoming production of one of Shakespeare's most hilarious comedies, compositional wizard Tim Finn has written 12 new songs.

Finn first collaborated with Queensland Theatre on the Helpmann Award-winning musical Ladies In Black and returns to supply the musical component of Twelfth Night, which will be performed by a live band.

Director Sam Strong said, "We have the cast, the composer and the design to make this as funny as Twelfth Night needs to be, as sexy as Twelfth Night wants to be, as dark as Twelfth Night can be, and as musical as Twelfth Night deserves to be." The director also described Twelfth Night as a "melan-comedy", which is a term that could be used to describe a lot of Finn's musical output.

Strong promises that "the absolute A-Team of Shakespearean specialists" will bring this work to life with an all-singing cast that includes Jessica Tovey, Kat McIntyre, Kurt Phelan and Christen O'Leary (as Malvolio/Malvolia).
