Tig Notaro Announces Australian Tour

Grammy-nominated, Mississippi-born comedian Tig Notaro has announced that she will be returning to Australia for a run of stand-up shows this December.

The Melbourne International Comedy Festival veteran was last in the country in 2011, and a lot has happened since we were last treated to one of her performances. In fact, in 2014, we find her having since survived a battle with pneumonia, life-threatening illness C. diff (Clostridium difficile), her mother's death, the collapse of a relationship, and a highly publicised cancer diagnosis and struggle (including a double mastectomy), which she made known at a Los Angeles show in August 2012, prompting show host Louis CK to comment on Twitter, "In my 27 years doing this I have seen a handful of truly masterful performances. One was Tig Notaro last night."

Despite those events all befalling her within a four-month period, Notaro has nonetheless bounced back to become one of the most sought-after stand-up comedians in the States, collaborating with long-time friend Amy Schumer on the latter's Comedy Central show Inside Amy Schumer, releasing her second full-length comedy album, Live (as in "let's live large," not "live at the Hollywood Bowl"), back in 2012 and picking up a Grammy nomination for her efforts, as well as keeping busy with a variety of guest-starring appearances on shows such as The Office, The Sarah Silverman Program and Community, not to mention her regular stand-up spots on the late-night TV circuit.

Tig Notaro's December tour of Australia kicks off at Perth's Regal Theatre on Saturday, December 6, and takes her to Melbourne's Athenaeum Theatre, Brisbane's Tivoli Theatre and Sydney's Enmore Theatre before she departs our fair land once more.
