The Peep Tempel Announce New Album, Single & Tour Dates

Acclaimed Melburnian three-piece The Peep Tempel have emerged from the shadows touting new album Joy, which is set for release in just a couple of months' time and precedes a six-date national tour in support of the work this November.

Joy is the band's third album and follow-up to 2014's lauded sophomore effort Tales, and sees the trio expand their sonic horizons not just instrumentally (the album sees the inclusion of an array of noise-makers including organ, piano and spanner-on-steel-and-car-engine) but thematically, the relaxed studio sessions affording the band plentiful opportunity to explore and engage with a wide spectrum of human emotions throughout the album.

"There was a definite indulgence throughout the creation of the album," vocalist/guitarist Blake Scott said in a statement. "During the writing process you roll and spit through so many emotions."

The first taste of the impending record has landed in the form of fresh cut Rayguns, a frenetic and wonderfully ear-bending slice of classic, no-frills punk-rawk urgency that wears its chaotic underpinnings with pride, an attitude carried openly throughout the wider album.

"Joy, for the most part, is an exploration of the human state of mind," Scott said. "Human thought is a pure and true chaos. We wanted the album to represent the full spectrum of that chaos. From the paranoid yet elated Totality to the stark, isolated landscape of Constable."

The album will see worldwide release via Wing Sing on Friday 14 October; pre-orders are available now.

Soon after, the band will embark on their accompanying album tour, kicking off at Adelaide's Jive Bar on Friday 4 November and taking in performances at the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney, where they finish up on Friday 2 December at the Oxford Art Factory.
