More Jack Grace More Jack Grace

Emergent Sydney songwriter and producer Jack Grace hasn't even put out his debut EP yet but he's already gathering an impressive number of proverbial feathers in his cap, signing with venerated indie label Create/Control ahead of his appearances at next month's BIGSOUND events in Brisbane.

The new deal arrives swift on the heels of Grace's smooth new single All Lost, which comes from said unreleased EP — though it won't stay that way for long, as it's due for release on his new label this October. The track is the second song to be taken from the impending extended player, following his attention-grabbing debut effort Hills. It's an emotive, gorgeously realised effort, demonstrative of the sort of songwriting nous that steered him to an eight-date stint as support act on Ngaiire's recent national tour and the prodigious production skills that brought him to collaborate with fellow Sydneysiders BUOY on their two recent EPs, Immersion and Break

Decorated though the journey has been of late, it's not been all roses for the talented tune-smith.

"All Lost came about during a tumultuous period for me," Grace explained in a statement. "I'd finished an EP, but after coming home from being on tour and going through a break-up I found myself in a very different space.

"I was writing a lot of music at the time, mainly instrumental, most of it was feeling very detached and was acting more of distraction for me — until one day I loaded up this beat idea I’d had when I was in London and I allowed myself to be emotional and sang verses whilst playing piano over it for 15 minutes. It was a much-needed release."
