Stop right now.

More Spice Girls More Spice Girls

It looks like there could (finally) be a sequel in the works for the Spice Girls movie.

According to a story from The Mirror, Spice Girls members Geri Horner, Emma Bunton, Mel B and Mel C have "approached a renowned screenwriter about coming up with a story for a second film".

The film would be a follow-up to the 1997 film Spice World and would help celebrate its 25th anniversary.

"The girls have been talking about how to mark the film's anniversary and are actively considering making a tongue-in-cheek sequel," a source said. "They have approached a screenwriter who is considering working on the project and making tentative steps forward."

"It is still in the early stages but they are talking to established names in the business, which proves they are taking a big screen comeback seriously."

While there's nothing locked in, there is a chance given the group's 2019 reunion tour (minus original member Victoria Beckham).

Spice World was released in November 1997 at the peak of the Spice Girls' popularity and told the fictional story of the group making their way to the "biggest performance of their career" at the Royal Albert Hall.

It starred all five members as well as featuring Richard E Grant, Elton John, Meat Loaf, Alan Cumming, Elvis Costello, Jennifer Saunders, Roger Moore, Jools Holland, Hugh Laurie and more.

Last year, Mel C told The Green Room With Neil Griffiths about the group's experience following their debut album, Spice, which was released in 1996.

"To be honest with you, we were so lucky because I just think the dynamic of the band and the characters within the band and we were successful really quickly... we had a lot of power," she told host Neil Griffiths.

"No one could tell us what to do. We had arguments with the label and we always got our own way and thankfully, we were always right.

"We were in a position of power so we were quite lucky in that we pretty much didn't really do anything we didn't want to do."
