Scottish – but sometimes based in England or Ireland – folk rock veterans The Waterboys have announced their first ever Australian tour with dates early next year.

Founded by Mike Scott – the band's permanent member – he says today that the tour will be “a killer set of vintage Waterboys”, from across their 30 year history, and also featuring cuts from new album An Appointment With Mr Yeats.

As a result fans can expect to hear tracks like The Whole Of The Moon, This Is The Sea, A Bang On The Ear and Fisherman's Blues. New album An Appointment… is their tenth studio record and its songs come from the lyrics of legendary Irish poet, WB Yeats.

Saturday 19 January – The Tivoli, Brisbane
Saturday 26 January – Sydney Opera House
Wednesday 30 January – Hamer Hall, Melbourne
Thursday 31 January – Thebarton Theatre, Adelaide
Saturday 2 February – Concert Hall, Perth

Tickets on sale 10am Friday 30 November, with Live Nation pre-sale kicking off 10am Monday 26 November.
