It’s been a long time coming, but Australian heavy metal pioneers Parkway Drive are finally coming home.

Inarguably Australia's most successful heavy metal export, Parkway Drive formed in Byron Bay in 2003. The band will return to home soil this September for their first headline tour since 2018. They’ve been home since then but have exclusively headlined festivals, including Good Things 2019, Knight And Day in 2021, and performed at the inaugural Knotfest Australia in 2023.

Parkway Drive will perform in their biggest Australian venues to date, playing at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre (Friday, 20 September), Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena (Saturday, 21 September), Melbourne’s John Cain Arena (Sunday, 22 September), Adelaide’s AEC Arena (Friday, 27 September), and Perth’s HBF Stadium (Sunday, 29 September).

For the tour, Parkway Drive will be joined by two US acts – popular rockers I Prevail and metalcore outfit The Ghost Inside – and Aussie metallers Void Of Vision.

“Australia, it’s been a while. To be honest, it feels like forever,” Parkway Drive vocalist Winston McCall commented in a press release. “We didn’t plan it to be this way, but then again, we didn’t plan on making it this far in the first place.

“So here it is, we’re finally back, with the biggest headlining tour we have done, anywhere, ever, full stop. A celebration of a 20-year journey of the roads we have walked through, the generations, to the path we still define, our own. 20 years, through blood, sweat and tears. Still Australian, still unbreakable. Australia, turn the fuck up and make us proud, this is one for the history books.”

In a The Music cover story, McCall remarked that it was “nuts” witnessing Parkway Drive become an intergenerational band, especially in Australia. “This band definitely means something in Australia in a way that it doesn’t anywhere else,” he said.

“If you discovered this band in high school, then you’ve probably got kids right now who will be dragging you to these shows, and you’ll be like to your daughter, ‘I remember when he jumped off speaker stacks in tiny rooms!’ It’s nuts that we’ve become an intergenerational band. It’s a big milestone.”
