Missy Higgins has added another three “encore” shows to her upcoming The Second Act Australian tour to meet unprecedented demand.

One of Australia’s most beloved artists, Higgins’ The Second Act tour acts as a celebration of the 20th anniversary of her debut album, The Sound Of White – where she’ll perform the album in its entirety for the first time – and the future, with the singer set to preview songs from her upcoming album, due later this year. Her forthcoming unannounced LP has been described as “a kind of sequel” to her landmark debut.

Tour promoters Frontier Touring has revealed that Higgins has already sold out an incredible 32 shows on her upcoming theatre run of concerts from March through to July.

The new tour dates take place at Melbourne’s Palais Theatre on Saturday, 22 June, Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre on Friday, 5 July, and ICC Sydney on Saturday, 6 July. Frontier Touring has also indicated that new dates in Adelaide and Darwin will be announced in the next few months.

To accompany today’s tour announcement, Higgins has released her emotional, powerful new single, You Should Run. Higgins said about the ballad in a statement:

After going through a divorce a couple of years ago, I felt like the entire story I had written for myself had burnt to the ground. For the first time in ages, I found myself using songwriting as a form of therapy to try to make sense of it all, in particular, how I was supposed to start rebuilding. It’s an intensely personal song, so I wanted the recording process to mirror that, thus why I did it alone at home so I could really let it all out, tears and all.
