The beloved hip hop/jazz/fusion ensemble are wrapping up their current album cycle in style

More Koi Child More Koi Child

Venerated West Australian hip hop/jazz fusion collective Koi Child have had a massive year following the release of their ARIA-nominated debut album but, before they put the LP to bed and return to the studio, they're preparing for a final victory lap of their home state.

Running from later this month through late May, the six-date run of shows kicks off at Mandurah's Players Bar on Friday 21 April, and encompasses outings in Busselton, Dunsborough, Bunbury, Busselton again and Margaret River.

The band are yet to announce supports for the tour, with the exception of their shows in Bunbury and Busselton, where they'll be joined by their mate Henry Kissinger (not the one you're probably thinking of).

Koi Child have just wrapped up a tour of the United States, during which they stepped out for an official SXSW showcase in Austin and undoubtedly won themselves new fans, the group's reputation for massively entertaining live shows surely only bolstered by their Stateside sojourn.

They've been enjoying increasing renown in the 13 months since their album's release, picking up radio play around the world, including on BBC Radio 1, triple j and Beats 1, and undertaking tours (plural) of Australia, knocking over festival appearances and selling out headline shows all over the shop.

As we mentioned, these will be the last shows Koi Child perform on this album cycle, with the seven-piece outfit set to return to the studio to start working on full-length #2 in the near future. If you're local and a fan, you'd be foolhardy to miss them.
