Kimbra Announces New Podcast Featuring Mitski & More

The podcast comes shortly after Kimbra announced the release of her fourth studio album 'A Reckoning'.

Acclaimed New Zealand artist Kimbra has launched a new podcast series titled, Playing With Fire. Created in partnership with Talkhouse, the podcast sees the pop star explore the creative process with fellow artists. 

On her Instagram, Kimbra announced the new project, noting the pride she felt in the conversations created and additionally announced the topic as Transcendence.

The first three episodes of the podcast have been released, with the first episode featuring friend and fellow singer-songwriter Mitski. She discusses primordial chaos as a catalyst for creativity and the power of error to lead toward connection. The second episode features author Jedediah Jenkins to discuss the weight of generous, curiosity, stepping outside of exclusionary thinking and our society’s obsession with certainty, and the third features actress Bethany Joy Lenz to chat about deconstructing old faith traditions, rebuilding ourselves in the light of our new experience and acting as an exercise in presence.

“For some, it’s found in the ecstatic, grand and psychedelic moments. For others, it’s hidden in the ordinary, and seemingly mundane,” the official description states. “Playing With Fire is an exploration into the unknown, the intangible and the simply intoxicating path of seeking."

Kimbra also explores her own experiences of transcendence, giving us further insight into her own process as a songwriter and producer.

Alongside the new podcast, Kimbra is set to release her fourth studio album, A Reckoning, next year.  A Reckoning will share the story of a woman wrestling with the softness and strength within and the search to integrate, assert and articulate the complexity of her experience.
