If you've checked out the trailer for upcoming Australian film Dirt Music this morning, you might have noticed a familiar face. No, not David Wenham, it's Julia Stone!

The musician - who is known for both her solo work and collaborating with her brother Angus Stone - is set to appear in the film which is expected for release sometime this year. 

In addition to her acting role, Stone has also provided the film's soundtrack. 


Dirt Music is based on the 2001 Tim Winton novel of the same name and is "a tale of love and redemption, set against the awe-inspiring backdrop of the Australian West".

Kelly MacDonald, Garrett Hedlund, David Wenham, Aaron Pederson, George Mason and Dan Wylie form the film's cast, while Gregor Jordan directs the Jack Thorne screenplay.
