John Farnham’s eight-times Platinum album, Age Of Reason, celebrates its 35th anniversary this year, and to celebrate, JB Hi-Fi has unveiled a limited edition stunning opaque green vinyl.

The album boasts a string of incredibly strong tracks, including the empowering title track, Two Strong Hearts, Beyond The Call, We’re No Angels and more, with the CD bonus tracks providing Farnham’s take on two Australian rock and roll classics: Cold Chisel’s When The War Is Over and AC/DC’s It’s A Long Way To The Top.

Age Of Reason spent eight weeks at #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart and was the highest-selling album of 1988, following Farnham’s breakthrough album Whispering Jack. Farnham swept the ceremony at the 1988 ARIA Awards, winning Best Male Artist, the Outstanding Achievement Award, and the Best Adult Contemporary Award for Touch Of Paradise.

The Age Of Reason - 35th Anniversary Edition Opaque Green Vinyl is available to pre-order now from the JB Hi-Fi website, with a release date of Friday, 20 October 2023.

“How do you follow up the biggest album in Australian history? With this banger, Age of Reason. The album (of the same name) was another #1 smash, hitting eleven times platinum and proving that John’s success wasn’t just a one-off,” Green wrote.

On Two Strong Hearts, Green added, “The train just kept rolling down the track with the second single from Age of ReasonTwo Strong Hearts. Another Top 10 hit, this track is one of his most enduring hits to this day.”

In August, Farnham issued his first statement since receiving his mouth cancer diagnosis and surgery in 2022.

“I am the luckiest man I know right now,” Farnham wrote. “It’s been a year since my first surgery and to be honest I’ve lost count as to how many other procedures there’s been since then. I'm sure someone’s kept track of them all - let’s just say, there’s been a few.

“But, I'm home now and I’m a very grateful and happy man. I’m sitting here in my living room lapping up the attention from my beautiful wife, Jill, my boys Rob and James and my mini Schnauzer, Edmund.”

He added, “Today is a special day. And I’m going to mark it by having a pizza - because I can! I can’t wait to see what might be next on the menu. Bring on 2024.”

In September, Farnham lent his classic tune, You’re The Voice, declaring for the Yes campaign on the referendum to send a First Nations Voice to parliament.
