Destination NSW and the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) have announced the first details for next year’s Great Southern Nights concert series, the program for which is slated to host more than 300 gigs across the state of New South Wales.

In addition to shows in Sydney’s CBD and outer suburbs, the 2024 Great Southern Nights program will deliver shows to some of the cities less travelled by Australia’s biggest artists, including (but certainly not limited to) Wollongong, Newcastle, Wagga Wagga, Tamworth and the Northern Rivers.

Confirmed today (December 12) was that some 66 artists will play shows for the series, including standout acts like Ball Park Music, Bliss N Eso, Hoodoo Gurus, Jessica Mauboy, Jimmy Barnes, Kasey Chambers, Sneaky Sound System, The Cruel Sea, The Whitlams Black Stump Band, Xavier Rudd, Yothu Yindi and You Am I.

In a press statement, Ball Park Music – who are no strangers to the Great Southern Nights series – said of their keenness for next year’s program: “We’re extremely excited to be involved again with the Great Southern Nights program. This time we’ll be heading to Northern NSW to play our first ever show in Brunswick Heads. A few of us grew up in this area so it feels really special to come back and play. We’ll have our good friends Bean Magazine in tow too. It’s gonna be a ripper of a gig.”

The excitement was shared by Sneaky Sound System, who said of their appearance on the bill: “Wagga Wagga, get ready as we’re packing up the car in March and bringing the tunes to start the party for Great Southern Nights!”

Tickets for the first batch of shows are on sale now from the Great Southern Nights website, alongside the full breakdown of when and where they’re all set to happen – head here to start planning your adventures.

In a statement of her own, ARIA CEO Annabelle Herd said of next year’s Great Southern Nights program: “ARIA is proud to be presenting Great Southern Nights again in 2024 with a super exciting and diverse line-up of amazing Aussie artists across so many genres. Great Southern Nights empowers local artists to create future nostalgia moments in regions and music communities across New South Wales by reaching new audiences and bringing people together through a shared love of brilliant live music moments.”
