More Eskimo Joe More Eskimo Joe

Last year, Eskimo Joe played Sweater for the first time in 20 years, releasing a 2022 version of their iconic 1998 hit.

“We haven't played Sweater since 2002 at Fowlers Live Adelaide, but since that day, not a single show has gone by where someone hasn't yelled out 'play Sweater’,” vocalist Kav Temperley explained last year. “It has become almost sacred to the OG Eskies fans, so for all of you who've been waiting for this moment, please enjoy this 2022 version of Sweater we’ve put together.

“And for those coming along to join us on our national Black Fingernails Red Wine In The City tour in a few weeks, if you are lucky, we might be playing this one in our encore.”

During last year’s Black Fingernails Red Wine In The City tour, where Eskimo Joe performed their two most doted albums front to back, they were selling a limited run of Sweater sweaters that sold out. Due to popular demand, the East Fremantle lads have again delivered the sweaters.

“You asked, we listened…SWEATERS ARE BACK!!,” Eskimo Joe wrote on Facebook yesterday (14 July). “We sold out of these on our tour last year, so we’ve done another run of the official Eskimo Joe ‘SWEATER’”.

You can pre-order your sweater here as you belt out, “I could never wear that sweater”. The Eskimo Joe royal blue crewneck is expected to ship on Monday, 31 July, via the band’s merch store.

The Black Fingernails Red Wine In The City 2022 tour brought two of Eskimo Joe's most successful albums – the 4x ARIA Platinum Black Fingernails Red Wine (2006) and 2x ARIA Platinum A Song Is A City (2004) – to the stage for an epic back-to-back performance, with each album played in its entirety at the same show for the very first time, with some other surprises sprinkled throughout the night.

Fans were treated to shows featuring A Song Is A City hits such as From The SeaSmokeOlder Than YouLife Is Better With You, as well as belters from Black Fingernails, Red Wine, such as the title track, SarahNew YorkBreaking UpLondon Bombs and more.

Last week, The Music travelled back in time and celebrated one of Australia’s finest bands with a list of the Top 10 Eskimo Joe Songs, Ranked. Where did Sweater land? You can find out here.
