Proving once again it is one of the country's best artist-led festivals, Mullum Music Festival has today announced 2018 act Husky as its newest patrons for this year and 2019.

Following in the footsteps of previous patrons Mama Kin, Harry James Angus and Suzannah Espie, Husky Gawenda and Gideon Preiss will lead and perform at a number of other projects during this year's event.

Preiss will program (and perform at) the Piano Bar, as well as perform with Lachlan Mitchell’s improvisational project, Uncomfortable Science, and Melbourne blues artist, Tracy Miller.

Meanwhile Gawenda will debut a brand new project with two intimate shows at the Drill Hall venue, where he will perform brand new songs yet to be played live or even recorded.

"We met Glenn Wright, Mullum Music Festival Director, before we released our first album and he was one of our earliest supporters," Husky said.

"He and the festival are great supporters of Australian music in general and champions of up-and-coming artists. Mullum has always been committed to quality and talent, emerging and established, and it is festivals like this that help young artists get a start and help established artists continue to connect with their audiences and maintain long careers.

"We first played at Mullum as emerging artists, it was one of the first festivals we ever played. It’s a real privilege to be back some seven years later as the patrons."

Mullum 2018 will go ahead from 15-18 November, with a string of big names to perform alongside Husky, including Bombino, Mad Professor, Gordi, Ben Ottewell, Thando and William Crighton.
