More Haiku Hands More Haiku Hands

Aussie electro-pop collective Haiku Hands have some serious momentum behind them ahead of the 2020 release of their debut album with today's news that they've signed to Diplo's record label.

The Sydney trio have inked a deal with the US DJ's Mad Decent, joining a roster that boasts the likes of Major Lazer, Dillon Francis and Sean Paul, as well as fellow Aussies like SLUMBERJACK, Nina Las Vegas and What So Not.

Speaking to The Music, the band's Claire Nakazawa expressed her excitement.

"We’re so excited to be teaming up with the gang at Mad Decent," she said. "We got to meet the whole team in LA who are freakin lovely and know we’re going to do some MAD things together!"

Sam Sciarra, Mad Decent's A&R Manager who signed Haiku Hands, added, "As a follower and fan of the project since the moment I heard their debut single Not About You back in 2017, it’s a true honour to welcome Haiku Hands to the Mad Decent family.

"Their clever fusion of witty lyricism and innovative production fits perfectly with our ethos and vision as a label, and we look forward to continue building this group throughout the world alongside their dedicated teams at Spinning Top, Third Side and Paradigm."

To coincide with the signing news, Haiku Hands have also released new single, Onset featuring US artist Mad Zach; check it out below.

"Onset is the kind of track that you can listen to while walking down the street and feel like you own it," Nakazawa said.

"To me it’s a power track, about owning your power, sharing and enjoying it. Classic rap braggadocios with a conscious tip. Feeling the good vibes and not sweating the small stuff. The beat references classic genres.

"Mad Zach’s musical knowledge shines through as he incorporates sounds and elements from old school '80s & '90s hip hop, rave and electro and combines them with contemporary, new school electronic production. The result being a fresh, nostalgic, head banging track that you’ve never heard before.

"Onset is colourful, wild and rude. Get into it.”

Haiku Hands' debut album will released in Australia next year via Spinning Top.
