The Brissy psych-folk heroes are off on an east-coast sojourn to see out the remainder of the year

Lauded Brisbane psych-folk rockers Golden Age Of Ballooning have enjoyed a successful year so far, but they're not about to laze back for the final couple of months of 2016.

On the contrary, the band are about to release new single So They Say, the follow-up to June's excellent cut Love & War (which was premiered by The Music), complementing the new work with the announcement of a year-ending seven-date run of shows along the east coast and in Tasmania, their biggest such tour to date.

Having just knocked over a spot at Brisbane's Deadlam Festival this past weekend, Golden Age Of Ballooning will kick off their So They Say tour proper at The Bearded Lady, in West End. The run also includes showings at The Zoo (with Dungen), Melbourne's Old Bar and Mynt Lounge, Club 54 in Launceston (with British India), Frankie's Pizza in Sydney, and a free tour-ender at Bloodhound, back home in Brissy.

At the time of Love & War's release, GAOB had announced their intention to release four singles this year; even if they don't quite pull it off, the two that we've been gifted in 2016 have been more than accomplished enough to keep us satisfied regardless.

Besides, we're not about to begrudge them if these are the only two singles we hear this year. It's not like they've been sitting around twiddling their thumbs, after all: GAOB followed up Love & War with an eponymous tour that culminated with a well-received showing at Pandora's opening party at BIGSOUND back in September, and they've obviously been plenty busy with other pursuits on the boil (i.e. the new single and tour plans).

Although you never know — we may be extra-pleasantly surprised yet.

Keep your eyes peeled for additional dates in 2017, and revisit Love & War below in the interim.
