Police have confirmed that Scott Hutchinson, lead singer of Scottish indie rock outfit Frightened Rabbit, was found dead after going missing earlier this week.

As The Guardian reports, Scottish police discovered his body at Port Edgar near South Queensferry where he was last seen alive early Wednesday morning.

Frightened Rabbit issued a statement on social media overnight:

“There are no words to describe the overwhelming sadness and pain that comes with the death of our beloved Scott but to know he is no longer suffering brings us some comfort,” Frightened Rabbit said.

“Reading messages of support and hope from those he has helped through his art has helped immensely and we encourage you to continue doing this.

“He will be missed by all of us and his absence will always be felt but he leaves a legacy of hope, kindness and colour that will forever be remembered and shared.”

On Wednesday, the band urged anyone with information contact police to assist with their search, stating the 36-year-old “may be in a fragile state and may not be making the best decisions for himself right now”.

Hutchinson posted two tweets the day before he went missing, the final reading, "I'm away now. Thanks".

He visited Australia with Frightened Rabbit last year in support of the band’s fifth full-length, Painting Of A Panic Attack.
