beach fossils — somersault

This album is so beautiful and soothing, and lyrically, it resonated with me a great deal amidst 2017's political climate, particularly the track Down the Line. I've always been an admirer of the band’s driving baselines and sparkling guitar lines.

maricka hackman — i'm not your man

I think I pretty much know every word to this release now, I'm such a huge fan of Brit pop and grunge alike and I think Maricka's stylistic blend of the two in combination with her biting lyrics has made me her self-proclaimed biggest fan.

brightness — teething

This is such an incredible debut and easily my favourite Australian release of the past few months. These songs are so beautiful and I admire the production more and more with each repeat listen.

girlpool — powerplant

I’ve been following Girlpool for years and I just kind of can’t fathom how cool this record is. The evolution of their style with sonic experimentation focusing more on guitar and the addition of drums has really cemented them as one of my favourite bands.

lorde — melodrama

God this is good! Everyone knows it’s so damn good I need not give my reasons. Fave track: The Louvre.

alex g — rocket

This record is so varied in tone. It moves so swiftly between alternative folk and slacker rock and I am so here for it.

aldous harding — party

This woman is so incredible. I admire these tracks in every sense, particularly in that they feature what is in my opinion the most stunning vocal performances of any release this year. I need a Meredith ticket!

splashh — waiting a lifetime

I feel like I have been waiting 10,000 years for new music from Splashh and it was well worth the wait. This album is full of more hooks that a coat rack and their signature guitar and synth sounds prevail.

methyl ethel — everything is forgotten

I don’t think I could fault this band, and this album is so innovative and theatrical in a way that I dig so much. This is also my favourite album cover of the year by a country mile!

the babe rainbow — the babe rainbow

This album makes me feel really nostalgic despite being a totally new release and I think I would attribute that to Stu from King Gizzard's production style that feels reminiscent of Paper Maché Dream Balloon which I loved equally and felt the same about!
