Rock Legend & Dinosaur Jr Frontman J Mascis Is Releasing A Signature Fender

Guitarist and singer for legendary alt rock trio Dinosaur Jr and a prolific solo artist in his own right, J Mascis has become synonymous with the Fender brand of guitars for decades.

Now, the performer has joined the club with his own signature model Telecaster, combining some of his favourite aspects of the brand into one brand new design. 

"It means so much to be working with Fender," Mascis said of the collaboration. 

"Already, the Tele represents three decades of leads that I’ve recorded with this guitar. It's been my go-to for recording leads since I got it. It feels amazing to have a signature guitar. It's not something I ever imagined, but I’m truly honoured.”

The design is retailing at $2,499 AUD and features custom pickups, slimline neck design, rocket blue flake finish, and a chrome mirror pickguard modelled on Mascis' original '58 top-loader telecaster - the guitar with which he became enamoured during the early days of Dinosaur Jr.

“We’re honoured to have had the opportunity to partner again with J Mascis, this time to recreate one of his favourite guitars,” EVP of Fender Products Justin Norvell said. 

"From the Bottle Rocket Blue Flake finish to the mirrored chrome pickguard, the top-load bridge to the Road Worn maple neck, this guitar is a celebration of the J Mascis sound that helped define alternative rock."
