“We might just do this again,” Tent Pole Festival organisers said following the success of the inaugural event, which was headlined by indie heroes Pavement.

In 2024, Tent Pole: A Musical Jamboree will return to Victoria’s Mt Duneed Estate on Saturday, 17 February, this time locking in another group of alternative rock legends in Dinosaur Jr.

The rockers led by J Mascis will be celebrating the 30th anniversary of their 1993 album, Where You Been, while Scottish pioneers Mogwai and Calexico top the line-up that also stars local stars, including Melbourne’s Cash Savage & The Last Drinks, RVG, punk rockers Civic, Our Carlson, Frankston’s own The Bel Air Lip Bombs, garage punk outfit Delivery and singer-songwriter Al Matcott.

The a day on the green, AAMI, Ticketmaster, and Love Police members’ presale begins on Monday, 9 October, at 2 pm local time, while the general sale opens at 2 pm on Friday, 13 October via Ticketmaster.

In case you missed it: Tent Pole is run in collaboration with a day on the green’s masthead Roundhouse Entertainment, Brian BTTaranto’s Love Police and I OH YOU founder Johann Ponniah.

“Our first Tent Pole event was so much fun, from the moment we started talking about it until the after-show beers! It’s great to be back,” Roundhouse Entertainment Director Michael Newton said in a statement.

BT added, “The vibe created this year by the punters and the bands and the spirit of good times will live on! It’s a privilege to be able to help curate the tunes again and deliver it to the sweet Surf Coast.”

Ponniah said, “I had an absolute blast at the inaugural Tent Pole earlier this year and am so stoked with the line-up for ’24. Pumped to hit the Surf Coast again!”

While there is limited paid parking on site – which you can book here – organisers note that public transport is a more stress-free method of travelling. Shuttle buses (which must be pre-booked) will be available from Melbourne, Laverton and Werribee (contact Melbourne On The Move for more information) as well as from Geelong, Bellarine Peninsula and Surf Coast (contact McHarry’s Coaches).

An easier method of transport is the V-Line train, which you can take from Southern Cross Station to Waurn Ponds in 90 minutes and for under $10. Kids under 12 can enter Tent Pole festival free of charge. Early Bird tickets will be sold for $169.90, and the full-price general admission tickets will go for $189.90.
