Award-winning Irish singer-songwriter Damien Dempsey, fresh off the back of the success of his 2012 record, has announced a six-date headline tour outside of his appearance at Byron Bay Bluesfest.

Dempsey, who has made fans of massive names such as Brian Eno, Sinéad O'Connor, Bob Dylan and U2 – both whom he's shares stages with, returns to Australian shores and gives fans a few extra opportunities to catch his reggae-Irish-folk-rock hybrid repertoire in Western Australia, Victoria, New South Wales, Northern Territory and Queensland before he heads of to Byron Bay.

Since his 2000 debut record They Don't Teach This Shit In School, critically-acclaimed Dempsey has been awarded several Meteor Awards, including Best Irish Male and Best Traditional Folk Award, achieved chart topping and Platinum singles and toured with the likes of Morrissey.

His Australian tour celebrated his latest record, 2012's Almighty Love, an offering that continued the long-standing relationship with producer John Reynolds and featured performances by  Sinéad O'Connor and emerging Brit Kate Tempest.
