More Cat Canteri More Cat Canteri

Talented Melburnian muso Cat Canteri (of The Stillsons) has announced the release of her debut solo full-length, When We Were Young, due out this September via MGM and Mountain King Music.

Roughly two years in the making, When We Were Young drops Friday, September 5, and finds the acclaimed singer-songwriter in assured, mature form, with Canteri’s introspective, emotional sense of narrative lyricism sitting comfortably amid a swirling concoction of accessible pop filtered through an intelligent ear.

The multi-skilled songstress handled the grand majority of creative duties for the record, including drums, guitars and keyboards, but When We Were Young boasts even more depth to its pedigree in the form of guest appearances from the likes of Ben Franz (The Waife, The Stillsons), Stevie Hesketh (The Drones, Jet), and Justin Bernasconi (The Stillsons), with recording and mixing responsibility falling in the very capable hands of Craig Pilkington (Archie Roach, Lior, Liz Stringer).

To celebrate the release of the record, Canteri will be embarking on an extensive national tour from the end of this week, when she kicks off proceedings with a dual showing at home on Friday, September 5 – a 12.45pm matinee performance at Basement Discs, backed up by an 8pm show at The Star, Yackandandah – before taking on Beechworth (twice), Ararat, Canberra, Port Macquarie, Yamba, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Brisbane (twice more), Byron Bay, Bellingen, Maitland, Surry Hills, Melbourne (again), Torquay and McLaren Vale (phew!) before wrapping it all up at The Wheatsheaf, in Adelaide, a couple months from now, on Saturday, November 15.
