This year could be one of the biggest Australia has ever seen in terms of live music, with new reports indicating that global music superstars could be making their way down under.

According to a source at the Herald Sun, Australia in 2024 could be the second home for numerous music icons – and see the return of our beloved Kylie Minogue.

Quoted by the Herald Sun (via the Daily Mail), The Music’s previously reported possible Pearl Jam and Green Day tours are “scheduled” to happen, with Kylie Minogue, Beyoncé, Madonna, AC/DC, The Rolling Stones and Bruce Springsteen reportedly a hot commodity amongst Australian tour promoters.

The source commented, “Superstar acts will keep coming here as long as there is demand, and right now, the appetite is very strong. People want to go out to see their favourites. They really value that.”

More artists are rumoured to be looking at bringing their shows to Australia, including Olivia Rodrigo, The Cure, Eagles, Take That, and pop-punk queen Avril Lavigne.

However, the Herald Sun also mentions some drawbacks, including the possibility of exclusive Victoria and New South Wales tours.

Rumours about Pearl Jam potentially announcing an Australian tour began circulating on social media last month after the band themselves posted a teaser on Instagram.

The rockers shared a video performing Do The Evolution at their 1998 show at Melbourne Park along with the telling caption, “Are you koala-fied for our ticket presales? Not a current member? Hop to it, mate! 🐨🦘🇦🇺 #TenDaysOfPJ”.

While nothing is official yet, eagle-eyed fans on the band’s subreddit have suggested that Pearl Jam’s Australian and New Zealand shows will take place from 8 to 10 November in Auckland before heading to Gold Coast, Sydney and Melbourne from 13 to 23 November.

Meanwhile, Green Day appeared on Sunrise last month and hinted at their desire to return to Australia – a bit later than most fans would hope.

“We haven’t been to Australia in years,” vocalist Billie Joe Armstrong said. “We definitely want to come back — maybe 2025. Every time we go to Australia, it’s hard to leave.”

In October, speculation arose about AC/DC’s first tour in Australia since 2015 after Cherry Bar owner James Young posted this on Facebook after they headlined Power Trip festival in California:

A little birdy told me last night that AC/DC will 100% be touring Australia in 2024, and this Set List that they recently played at Power Trip Festival in California will be the precise set list we get.

If you want blood, you got it!

Now we all just need to pray that we get Melbourne-born drummer Phil Rudd back in the band for this Tour.

In addition to Young’s post, the Twitter account Oz Concert News posted, “It'd be cool if AC/DC toured next year.”

Bruce Springsteen also made headlines last year, with former AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan revealing that The Boss was on his “bucket list” of performers to headline the AFL Grand Final. Last year’s final match of the year hosted pre-game headliners KISS.
