Benefit Gig Announced For Aussie Blues Artist Chris Wilson Following Cancer Diagnosis

A benefit concert has been announced in honour of revered Victorian blues artist Chris Wilson who has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. 

The Australian music community will rally behind the Geelong songwriter at the event to be held next month at the Corner Hotel, which will feature performances by the likes of Steve Lucas, Kerri Simpson, Finn and George Wilson, Jerome Smith, Barb Waters, Barry Palmer, Tim Rogers, Matt Dwyer, Shane O’Mara, Dave Hogan and Jo Jo Smith.

All proceeds made from the concert will go to Wilson and his family. 

As well as fronting his band, Crown Of Thorns, Wilson released a number of solo albums throughout his career, including his 1992 debut LP, Landlocked, and the most recent, 2012's Flying Fish.

His 1994 live record, Live At The Continental, was later turned into the documentary, Chris Wilson Live At The Continental 23 Years On, which was screened this past May at the St Kilda Film Festival.
