Politicised punk group Pussy Riot has taken to social media to claim responsibility for the pitch invasion in the 2018 FIFA World Cup Final between France and Croatia in Moscow this morning.

Four people dressed in police uniforms stormed the pitch early in the second half as the Russian President and a global audience watched on.

"Hello everyone from the Luzhniki field, it's great here," Pussy Riot wrote on Twitter.

The protest group released a statement citing six demands; calling for the freedom of political prisoners, not to "imprison for likes", end "illegal arrests" at rallies, "allow political competition" and "not fabricate criminal accusations”. The final demand was thematic of the protest with the group calling to "turn the earthly policeman into the heavenly policeman".
