BIGSOUND has come out all guns blazing with its latest speaker announcement, locking in Australian icon Paul Kelly alongside a serious dose of SoCal punk rock, a groundbreaking new workshop and more.

The second 2018 speaker announcement will see Kelly take part in a keynote interview, reflecting on his career and discussing the future of Australian music, while US punk rock heroes, Lagwagon frontman Joey Cape and Fat Wreck Chords label founder Erin Kelly-Burkett, sign on to give a keynote presentation at the September event.

Returning to Brisbane's Fortitude Valley from 4-7 September this year, BIGSOUND will also launch a first-of-its-kind mental health workshop during the event, teaming up with Support Act and more to help delegates identify mental health issues and how to manage them.

"Employees of corporate organisations in other industries have free access to professional development opportunities that independent music entrepreneurs could only dream of being able to afford,” QMusic CEO and BIGSOUND producer Joel Edmondson said.

“This is a big reason that the music industry is decades behind many other industries in terms of gender equity, mental health, corporate governance and overall people and culture development.

“The evolution of the BIGSOUND conference experience is designed to give delegates exposure to learning experiences that can radically transform how they think, work and relate to other people."
