Melbourne's Etihad Stadium is set to renamed this year following a deal with the Walt Disney Company.

As Herald Sun reports, the over-50,000 capacity venue will be renamed Marvel Stadium starting from 1 September.

The eight-year deal with Disney will include a complete re-brand of the stadium, as well as a premium Marvel shop.

Acts who have performed at the venue this year include Ed Sheeran and Foo Fighters, while Adele and Justin Bieber performed there in 2017.

It is not the first time the venue has had a name change either; it was previously known as Telstra Dome and Colonial Stadium before Etihad Airways bought the naming rights in 2009.
