Amy Shark, Gang Of Youths & More Reap Benefits From Latest Round Of Aus Council Grants

Australia Council have revealed the results of its latest round of grants which awarded $6.8 million in funding to support 222 projects.

The Contemporary Music Touring Program awarded Amy Shark $46,000 to play a number of US and Canadian shows, Gang Of Youths $50,000 to conduct international tours, Caiti Baker $18,000 to attend The Great Escape in the UK, RVG $34,000 to undertake extensive European and UK tours and more.

It wasn't just musicians that benefited from the funding, with a number of grants going towards larger projects like $50,000 for Skinnyfish Music's presentation of the Barunga Festival, $10,000 for AIR to support this year's Indie Con conference and $75,000 to the Melbourne Electronic Sound Studio to continue their operations as a fully functioning sound workshop.

Peers that assessed the 1,336 applicants to whittle it down to the awardees include Bakehouse Studios co-owner and 2018 Power 50 member Helen Marcou, Stiff Gins' Nardi Simpson, musician Kris Keogh and more.
