Tom Gleeson Roasts Em Rusciano's 2Day FM Breakfast Show In 'Hard Chat' Segment

Em Rusciano's breakfast show on 2Day FM has enjoyed a promising start to 2018 with two improved results in the radio ratings, but that hasn't stopped Tom Gleeson from poking fun at the fellow comic's program. 

Appearing on The Weekly's Hard Chat segment, Rusciano was a good sport as Gleeson took aim at the network and breakfast show which has struggled to gain listeners since the departure of Kyle & Jackie O in 2014.

"You’re currently on breakfast radio with Grant Denyer and Ed Kavalee," Gleeson began.

"There's three of you in the studio. Is that more than the number of listeners you have?"

"Yes, by one," Rusciano joked back.

"I know that we’re rating lower than in-house hospital radio and the station that reports the fishing channels… "

Addressing the breakfast program's low ratings, compared to Rusciano's high number of personal social media followers Gleeson said, "Does that mean that even your fans can’t bear to tune in?"

Rusciano responded through fits of laughter, "I can't argue with you, the figures are in your corner."

Gleeson continued, "Maybe the problem is that you’re on air with Grant Denyer and Ed Kavalee. It’s like a dinner party that no one would organise."

"You’re right," Rusciano replied.

"But I would say I’m probably the problem because we didn’t rate last year when they weren’t there either."

The latest radio ratings, issued last week, saw 2Day FM climb from the bottom of the FM breakfast ladder thanks to a 1.0% increase to 4.4%; see the full results here.

It comes after Rusciano roasted her own show during a stand-up set last month where she said, "You guys, enjoy me while you can, because they’ll replace me with 2Day FM Breakfast with Schapelle Corby by the end of the year.

"They’re going to have to fucking fire me, you know that… I’m my own worst enemy. I’m going to get myself sacked. You fucking know that."
