'Kingsman' Star Taron Egerton To Play Elton John In New Biopic

UK actor Taron Egerton has been announced as portraying Elton John in the new biopic Rocketman set to be distributed by Paramount Pictures.

As Variety reports, the film will be directed by Dexter Fletcher, who replaced Bryan Singer on the Freddie Mercury biopic after Singer disappeared for three days while filming.

Written by Billy Elliott screenwriter Lee Hall, the movie will follow John's life from his emergence as a musical prodigy at London's Royal Academy of Music to launching his career as a pop music superstar while also focusing on his partnership with songwriting collaborator Bernie Taupin.

Production is set to start on the film in the coming months.
